There were other people at the same address so each has their own reference,

there were 8 individuals in that household,,3 of who were McMahon.,,,,,,1939 many familes lived in rented rooms ,&facilities such as,bathroom if there was one, kitchen, etc,,,,,,,plus there was possibly an outside toilet, that also was shared by all at that address.

Unfortunately for anyone to look at the info they would have to subscribe .

Any prefixes would be new to us looking now I would think, so it would be guesswork

The register was used as a basis for post war set up of the NHS so the later dates on there may be signicant,to that . ie perhaps there was a remarriage

Have you looked for the lady remarrying in the qtr that covers that 1948 date ,or was there a child born about then

on the new 1939 census for England I was encouraged by finding a Name the same as his.
Underneath his line and name is what appears to be his wifes name

Her name has a line through it with several notes written over
The first note in the first column is NR 230. NSA 17/2/48 (Bearing in mind this is the 1939 pre war census) Then there is a Surname totally unrelated (GREGSON)
Then there appears the words Major St (looks like herwith MCMAHON)
Followed in the end column YNJA 24/9/27 46

I would appreciate any help with these notes and thank you in advance
Cheers
