Today at 11am my late Dad's cousin, Lyn, will be laid to rest. I only got to know him after my parents died, but going to Llanelli to visit him, I took the opportunity to arrange a meet which was a great way to get to know people from the boards.

He was a lovely man with a wonderful Welsh accent, who, with his wife Jean, made us very welcome and was proud to show us round his neck of the woods. With his knowledge of one side of my family he answered many questions for me (including the fact that I didn't have Welsh blood after all, the family moved to Llanelli after my Grandmother, his Mum's sister, left home.)

He battled cancer for some time with humour and dignity and I will miss him.

It is always very sad to lose a family member, even one who may have been 'recently' discovered :-(

Thanks all, I will always think of him on this special day of remembrance. One of his daughters emailed me earlier to say that the church was full to overflowing and there were very many kind words spoken. That didn't surprise me at all as Lyn was so kind and caring. He liked to paint and before we left Llanelli he popped round to our holiday apartment on Millenium Quay with a picture he had painted and framed of Three Cliffs Bay, on the Gower where he took us to show me some family graves.
