We are planning to take her to church for the midnight mass as well and pretty much the last time I went in there I was carried and was planning for the next time to be the same.

Christmas in a Sussex village with good friends and lovely home-made fare.

She's a lucky girl.

Well, the Christmas cake I wasn't going to make this year is in the oven.

That Christmas pudding I wasn't going to make this year is going to be made tomorrow.

The mincemeat I wasn't going to make this year because I didn't have any green tomatoes is in the fridge because I had to make it with apple.

It's a good thing it wasn't last year!

Your Christmas guest has obviously chosen to stay with you Sharron...... what does it matter that your house is not as you would like it to be ........ all that is needed is a warm welcome.

I am sure, that as a student, your friend's daughter has been used to 'roughing it' at times, so sleeping on the floor for her will be no hardship.

Enjoy having her company at Christmas and do what you do best .... looking after people...... I am sure her mother will be pleased that you have agreed to have her staying with you.

We had decided that we would not really do Christmas this year because we don't yet have the pensions sorted out and the house id still not back together properly from the new kitchen and the water system fiasco. We were also thinking that I would be feeling a lot more like it by next year.

Our friends daughter is over here at Royal Holloway for a year. She is the one who surprised me by telling me I had a black grandson when I don't even have children. It is some cultural thing whereby they regards their parents friends also as parents.

Well, she rang up last week and announced that she would like to come and stay with us for Christmas.

Oh Lordy, Lordy! What a shock!

Luckily we are decorated but she and her mother especially are so organized and industrious and she may not get the chance to have another English Christmas.I have had to make some mincemeat this week, the cake and pudding will have to be made at the week-end. We don't even have a spare bed!

Lucky it was this year and not last because I can't even remember last Christmas I was so lost to the world.
