We are fine too, Fly. <3 :-D

Had coffee with daughter after school again. The young 'un told us that the best thing about his day was his school lunch (roast beef). He sounded just like I did at that age. :-S

GP, just reported that the poor man who died was believed to be the owner of the shop so it's unlikely to have been a "stocktake". I hope it was accidental and not arson. The emergency services are still there and the shops both sides of the burnt one are also cordoned off and road not open

Sad, sad time for the family.

Hi JL - They haven't established what caused the fire but police and forensics are continuing their enquiries. There may be more information given on BBC Newcastle tonight.

That's sad, GP. Have they decided whether it was an accidental fire or a Stocktake?

Dermot, if it stands empty for too long, watch out for squatters :-D :-S

Regarding the huge fire in Newcastle yesterday, It has been confirmed that a body has been recovered from the building this afternoon. Speculation is it may be that of an 81 years old man who lived there.

They're gone!

Being away all day yesterday, I was informed on my eventual return by the local busybody that my immediate neighbours moved out. Two big vans loaded with furniture & other household goods - she said.

Of course, the occupants just rented the house - so no major delay in moving for whatever reason. Not as much as a 'cheerio' or a verbal thanks for regularly keeping an eye on their abode during their frequent foreign travels.

Sorry that they are gone though - they were a very unobtrusive couple. That's life, I guess. :-S
