Our lovely Builder no his name isn't Bob lol
is coming to fit my kitchen in two to three weeks
So time to strip the cupboards out
You know the ones you never go in
and whoo hoo what did I find

A tub of Horlicks dated best before 2010
Coffee best before 2013
Baby bottles bearing in mind Baby Satan is now 10
Enough egg cups for everybody on here to have one
and cups well if ever there was a cup shortage
My family would of been ok for several lifetimes lol
Strange how we hoard stuff

WELL NOT NO MORE
THE WHEELIE BIN IS OVER FLOWING NOW :-D :-D

only that? when I rebuilt my mother's kitchen ( I don't need any Bobs or Jans) I found stuff going back to the 1970s and even pasta suffering rigor mortis.

brings back memories though ... panyan pickle, real Bournville chocolate ( it kept in the gold foil), egg tongs, bean slicers, ancient newspapers (these, used for lining, make for a good read and no work done) , old style kiwi shoe polish ....

As to the contents of the cupboards of elderly departed tenants all I can say is that they must be big fans of hoarding programs on the tv. Some of the stuff has sold quite well on eBay covering a smigeon of the refurb. costs esp 60s/70s F&F.

I hate wheelie bins.

I got my new kitchen fitted almost 2yrs ago.

I didn't find too much out of date food in the old units but, I did unearth loads and loads of tupperware/ plastic storage boxes.

I never found the lids!

lol @ GlasgowLass :-D

Where do the lids go?

I have a large plastic box in the "tupperware" cupboard, and I put all the lids in it... some of them must creep out in the middle of the night and leave home.

I have lots of plastic containers, but can't find the lids for some of them!

I think there's a secret place..... somewhere.... that's full of plastic lids & odd socks.

My sister's having her kitchen 're-done'.
The driver and I were up there at the weekend taking down the high cupboards (sister had removed the lower ones), removing the cooker, and putting the washing machine, fridge and dishwasher into the newly built 'garden' room. She had the floor tilers in yesterday and today (her late husband tiled it last time).
We are going down when the new kitchen arrives, to help her with the really tall cupboards, the high cupboards, and to put the white goods in place :-(

She denies finding any 'old' stuff - but then, she would!!! :-P

Tonight, as I had some room in my bin, and the binmen come tomorrow, I have removed 2 ice cream containers and two Tupperware containers containing curry ingredients, from a cupboard, and put them in the (now healthily full) bin :-D
Curry no longer does my gut any favours :-(

I think the Tupperware lids
are hiding with all those lost socks we all have :-D :-D

My brother died in 1990, and I went back for the funeral. But it took some time for the coroner to release his body so I helped sis-i-l clean out his house

I won't go into detail about what we found in his kitchen, but what did amaze us was in his garage

He had built a series of shelves across the back of the garage, and then built a divider between them and the rest of the space.

He obviously thought there there was a food shortage coming, because the shelves were full of canned and bagged foods ....... including at least 10 large (??10 or 20 lb) bags of Basmati Rice

He couldn't stand Basmati Rice, said it was too "perfumed" for him! :-0 :-0 :-D :-D

When we were a lot younger we viewed a bungalow whilst house hunting. According to the Estate Agent the deceased owner had illegally excavated a cellar and filled it with tins of food. So many of them had rusted or 'blown' they were wondering how to clear them!
Whoever bought it would have had a lot of work to do. It was subsiding into the 'cellar' :-0

When we cleaned my gran's bungalow - hoping she could return to it, about 3 cans had 'blown' in the pantry :-(
...mind you,, it took us 3 days to reach the pantry......

I seem to be visualising a pattern emerging.......
My missis, if she doesn't have "enough" of anything to last about 4 months, she is on the point of "running out"!!!
