i love looking at the old Dads Army series and its sad that lots of those actors are no longer with us too .

The same as Porridge with both main characters now deceased

My first job was there - not Grace Bros, but the Store which inspired the programme. Old Mr Grace fitted Mr xx to a tee ;-) :-D

The other parts were wonderful Caricatures’ of the more established staff members.

Ah, but you had to have a dirty mind to understand what they were getting away with. You understood, Rollo. Ergo, you have a dirty mind.

ah but they are immortal, people will be laughing at their shows far into the future just as we still watch Charlie Chaplin and Harold Lloyd today.

It took a little while for AYBS to be recognised as top notch classic comedy. If you listen carefully to some of the dialog it is astonishing what they got away with ;-)

Isn't it sad when watching reruns you realise that cast members have died.? Today with the announcement that Nicholas Smith has died (Mr Rumbold) at 81 all the original cast members of Are You Being Served are now dead. Perhaps they're all together laughing at all the fun they had at Grace Brothers.
