Does his company own the buildings? If so, the Canadian authorites would have little influence in a name change.

Trump's policy would ban American-born Muslims from returning to the US if they have left on business or holiday ..... and some of those would be 3rd or 4th generation Americans!

There's a campaign going on here .........

........ Vancouver and Toronto each have a Trump Hotel and Suites. City councils and others in both cities are calling for the name to be removed :-)

Interesting points made

As for immigrants, isn't everyone an immigrant in the US, except for native Americans......you know, those indigenous people who taught the immigrants how to survive, in 'their' country

His mother was an immigrant from Scotland,

His Trump grandparents were immigrants from Germany.

Mr Trump sounds off a lot about "immigrants" - what is his own background ?

MargaretM Report 9 Dec 2015 11:28

Actually I don't see how it is possible to ban any religious group from entering a counry. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think that one's religion is asked about at the border. It's not listed on a passport. Surely if asked "Are you a Muslim?" one just has to say "No". A little different, of course, for a woman if she's wearing a hijab or niqab.

The trouble with democracy is that it gives a platform for free speech however obnoxious. Shouting it down is not the way to go 'cos people such as Trump feed off that.

Despite the US being a melting pot of peoples it is amazingly insular in its attitudes to the outside world which can be sumnmed up as FUD - fear, uncertainty and doubt. Populists everywhere take advantage - UKIP in the UK, le Pen in France, Trump.

At the end of the day will Trump's mouth and wealth buy him the White House? Given that it is impossible to win a modern US election without the Hispanic and black vote it seems unlikely.

Trump has probably put the cause of golf back by years :-)

Is he trying to say that 'Muslims' in the US are immigrants and that they are all Terrorists? He's an absolute nutter.

Our son-in-law when they lived in the States attended a conference in Austin, Texas, probably about 5 years ago. At the registration desk one Texan woman was kicking off because it had been declared a non-gun zone. She was not a happy bunny.

He'd had a gun pulled on him at a traffic-violation stop, all because he'd reached over to his glove-box to get the vehicle papers. Naturally, he Froze! It was all sorted out with a bit if friendly advise. It can be an advantage to have an English accent.

Muslims' have the US electorates feelings running high, that's why he's using it from scripted notes. It's as fake as that sun tan.

Or Bill Clinton put him up to it so as to improve Hilary's chances?

Aparrently there is one of those online UKgov polls to ban Trump from entering this country :-D

Did anyone watch those documentaries about him forcing that golf course on the locals in Scotland - he is a nasty piece of work.

OK maybe Donald is saying what a lot of people are thinking, there ain't no way I would want him running my country, I mean we have to try to get along with other countries and with the people who live in our own country not throw half the people out and build a wall and say you can't come in this is mine.

I have itchy fingers here and I'm trying to stop them running away on this thread but I could not resist writing a little.

Obama has done his best to introduce some sort of restriction on armoury but in the face of ignorance he is still struggling. Is DT is part of that face of ignorance?

Has DT scored an own-goal?

Does he realise that his own-goal has scuppered his chances of leading the USA?

If so, is that why he's now trying to deflect interest by commenting on the openness of Britain?

Also, could he be deflecting interest from any skeletons that may still be in his closet?

Has he looked into the mirror and realised that he may not fit the visual requirements of President of the USA? Sadly, they do matter there.
