I never accused you of lying, Caroline.

Caroline

Caroline Report 16 Dec 2015 14:49

CTV news quote Apkar Mirakian of the Armenian community/church who is in charge of resettling the refugees; quoting in writing and he's filmed saying it.

So not sure how I can be made out to be lying/too negative when all I'm doing is passing on his information......

Caroline

Caroline Report 16 Dec 2015 14:36

If you goggle it more often than not Canadians say they're worried about the speed...it's one thing to promise something it can be another to deliver....even Government workers responsible for bringing them in have been quoted on the news stories saying it needed to slow down and then it did somewhat.

Caroline

Caroline Report 16 Dec 2015 14:09

Nope he's in Ottawa

Caroline

Caroline Report 16 Dec 2015 14:08

I did quote CTV news they've run a number of stories along this line for over a week, can't help it if the truth is negative.

Never heard of Lowell Green will goggle right now but I'm guessing there's a little uncalled negativity meant in there somewhere :-)

Caroline, I don't know where you're getting all of your negative news from re: the refugees. You mention the "problem" that most Canadians have. I don't believe that most Canadians have a problem with it. I believe that, like me, they are very proud to be a part of it and see no problems. Of course there will be little problems along the way, it is a massive undertaking and can't be expected not to have problems.

You don't listen to Lowell Green, do you?

Just showing on the news here, a plane carrying refugees is due to arrive at Stansted airport this afternoon, and a family who arrived in Coventry 7 weeks ago via Iraq, where they fled when their two children were caught in a bombing, and they need further medical treatment for injuries, one child has lost her sight in one eye.

Yes they were meant to be able to provide all expenses for a year (usually 10 yrs).....not sure how it has gone belly up already.....not able to get the money quick enough...assuming the government would help......money promised and not delivered...they haven't said they just admit they're already overwhelmed and they said that before the first plane load landed last week.

Caroline, if they are sponsored did the Armenian church not have to have raised the money beforehand? That was the impression I got from articles? edit I realise that you are there and can probably see local news that doesn't make the major papers online eg http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/syrian-refugees-get-warm-welcome-at-armenian-community-centre-1.3361914

To be fair and not to cause angry amongst anyone.....the "problem" most Canadians have is the speed of the arrivals. They've had to delay some until next year (end of Feb) rather than end of this year, but still they're rushing them in. Yes I know they need to be safe but these are in the UN camps. Yesterday the next batch came into Toronto and they are mostly privately sponsored by the Armenhian church/council. They were admitting before the first batch came in last week they weren't ready, now they're ever worse off with lots more to come shortly. They have no where for them to live and no money to rent anywhere or pay hotel rooms. They admit themselves it is being done too fast in that respect.
I know this will cause angry but it's the facts.

We can't really compare the UK with Canada. The UK have said they will bring over 20k within 5 years. That's less than 500 per month.
Most of Kent councils aren't offering to host as they have to deal with the illegal immigrants who claim asylum who've smuggled themselves across the channel.
Theresa May is having to order other counties to accept the unaccompanied 'child' asylum-seeking migrants as Kent has run out of foster families. At least the host councils for the air-lifted Syrian families have time to prepare.

Aren't we now bombing Syria thanks to Jeremy Corbyn allowing a free vote?

Caroline Report 16 Dec 2015 00:50

To be fair old JC did refuse to sing the national anthem in church that time. He didn't want to swear allegiance to the queen.
As far as fashion. ...well even though he's trying to look smarter there's no competition really is there.......JB leaves alot to be desired in the fashion sense. !! Of course that's my view as an old person .
We'll take JC off your hands if you take JB.....

Dermot ...

I thought not!

but I thought I would answer Bob's question, as I'm not sure he even knows who Justin Bieber is :-)

Dermot

Dermot Report 15 Dec 2015 19:51

SylviaInCanada - no to everything.

Our Jeremy seems to be a sensible chap who gets castigated daily for having ideas that are sometimes 'outside the box' - whatever that is. Unfortunately, the 'yes men' of all parties have no brain they can call their own & waste time daily badgering & bullying the fellow while the country falls apart. :-P

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 15 Dec 2015 19:24

does Jeremy Corbin smoke pot, have threesomes, crash cars, make millions, have screaming mobs of teenagers chasing him, and is only 21?

Denburybob

Denburybob Report 15 Dec 2015 19:18

Would he be any worse than Jeremy Corbyn?

Caroline

Now that is really scary. ....JB as our leader. ....sends a shiver down your spine

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 14 Dec 2015 21:27

bob

back into your hole ........... and please take Justin Bieber with you :-D

there is another Justin, who's been in all the newspapers all over the world, including in the UK ..... and JB was possibly named for him :-)
