Not sad at all Rollo when you realise that the giving is given a lot of thought to please loved ones, to show them how much they mean.

it's kinda sad when Christmas is seen primarily as a platform for transactions in consumer goods and services ... about a million miles away from the basic idea

If you look online there are books about the best places to dive before you die so at least he could dream about where to go when he passes his course!

City Breaks and theater treats are out for us.

He was talking about scuba diving again but has also said when would he get time as I wouldn´t do it, therefore it wouldn´t be fair to me if he went diving leaving me alone (ahhhh) and it won´t be a pressie he can open but I may have to offer him the padi course. See loads of money ....mind it would give me something to get him each year buying all the equipment :-0 :-0.

So frustrating with only 10 days to go and he around during the day at the moment. :-|

My OH does the same thing ...................

he's been known to go out in December and buy a new electric razor "because mine is not working properly" ........... meanwhile I've been scratching around for ideas.

He loves steam trains, and for the last 2 or 3 years has bought every steam train calendar that he sees, while knowing perfectly well that our daughter will buy one for him. That one always duplicates one that he has bought.

I keep telling him to wait for the January sales so he knows which calendar he doesn't have.

In one ear, and out the other isn't in it!

I'll be watching this thread!

My DH is having a BIG birthday in February, and I have no idea what to get him.

He plays lots of golf, but gets what he wants from the pro shop. It would be very "ordiinary" if I got him golf things.

My hubby would do that

He would say I would like a particular cd or book and then buy it just before Christmas

One time I bought him a long play classical record and what did he do he went out and bought the full 4 record album .

I had to tell him very firmly don't buy things before Christmas because you are sabotaging people's presents for you .

He still sometimes did it though during November which was annoying because I started my Xmas shopping then

Good idea Foggy but he refused it as an extra when we bought the car, and he himself is a good driver. Might still keep that in mind tho´

Martynsue I years ago did him a flying lesson ! the paintball which we have here needs others and he does do it when people are available ,,,,,,,,but you have given me a brilliant idea .....and just cost me a ruddy fortune :-D :-D :-P

What about getting him a dash cam for his car, the way some people drive it is well worth it, and would probably get a reduction in his insurance :-D

Rose if you get any ideas than well done !
last year apart from paying for his stint in the UK for his sis´s big birthday, I bought him a little speaker that he adores as it works off his phone and he took it to the UK with him.

For pressies for OH.
My problem is if he wants something he buys it.
I have sent for a top he wants but have been informed it won´t arrive until 9th Jan so that´s his birthday sorted instead.
Clothes are not an option. Choccie and goodies already bought from the dog.

I know he is thinking of a new laptop as he has a notebook at the moment and it´s getting old.
He was going to wait for windows 10 but its out now, and yes he has it but it is too slow/wrong on his PC. I would be happy to buy him one but that has to be his choice. So that choice is out.

Any ideas :-0 :-0
