used to perform also "this is the tale of Marjorie Spicer, who backed into a bacon slicer', (see Mr. M's RRd post) but who, all those years ago on radio, used to tell three funny stories and get the endings mixed up. Was it Cyril or some other show?

Oh, they don't make 'em like that any more.

I like Kenneth Williams as Rambling Syd Rumpo, on Radio 4 Extra.
I've included the lyrics, so those of a 'delicate' disposition can make of them what they will!!

The Ballad of the Woogler's Moulie:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99IitWYZ0aU

Joe, he was a young cordwangler,
Munging greebles he did go,
And he loved a bogler's daughter
By the name of Chiswick Flo.

Vain she was and like a grusset
Though her gander parts were fine,
But she sneered at his cordwangle
As it hung upon the line.

So he stole a woggler's mooly
For to make a wedding ring,
But the Bow Street Runners caught him
And the judge said "He will swing."

Oh, they hung him by the postern,
Nailed his mooly to the fence
For to warn all young cordwanglers
That it was a grave offence.

There's a moral to this story,
Though your cordwangle be poor,
Keep your hands off other's moolies,
For it is against the law.

My Thread titled Sonia Snell, a monologue from Cyril Fletcher, has now been RR'd :-(

Someone needs to get a life; or perhaps a relative will pay for a sense of humour transplant as a Christmas present for whomever the RR'r is

These rr'rs have NO respect for other readers.........

maybe some of of the RR'rs are living on the moon..........half a world away............

Bob,

I think that the Puritan movement did not die out with the Restoration of King Charles the second, but went underground until the present day :-|

May GR give us a list of acceptable things that we can post about, including the parentage of the RR's

Rambling Sid was on Around The Horne. Which was broadcast at Sunday lunch time. I can frequently remember nearly choking on me Roast Beef while listening.

Also in the programme was Julian and Sandy, also by Kenneth Williams, with Hugh Paddick.

Plenty of double meanings in that too.

:-D

These days, 'canned laughter' forms part of many comedy items on radio. :-P
