First, as I always do, a reminder that every racehorse in the northern hemisphere has celebrated its birthday in the last few minutes.

The poem doesn't have much literary merit, but the message is there , if desired.

AS EASY AS YOU WANT TO MAKE IT

I have a fairly new neighbour,
His garden is a mess;
Neglected for ten years or so,
He's made the effort nonetheless.

Now one huge pile of rubbish,
All ready to take away;
Almost back to near normality,
On this promising New Years Day.

All that clutter is now a memory,
A clean, bright future seems in store;
The wind of change a blessing,
So much better than before.

Our brains are not dissimilar,
Needing a clearance of many kinds;
Grudges; jealousy; pettiness -
What better day to cleanse our minds?

Happy days and compliments of the season to all.

I love this one from King George/ Minnie Haskins -

I said to the man who stood at the gate of the year,
'Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown'. And he replied,' Put your hand into the hand of God. That to you shall be better than light, and safer than a known way'
