How does one alert a dead rat?

I have visions of the Genes Office.
Empty. Hibernating ladybirds and earwigs down every window frame.
Cobwebs trailing from monitor to monitor.
Rats scurrying from corner to corner, no food, just awaiting the arrival of a human.

Once a month a 'temp' is employed to dust everything off and 'sort out' any problems, but being a 'temp', is not sure what to do. The rats lurk in the corners, waiting for the temp to eat their packed lunch and leave a few crumbs behind.

The 'temp' leaves at lunchtime.........
