well, we'll keep our fingers crossed that higher temperatures will not result in the fire getting more energy

Stay safe, Allan!!! <3

Allan Report 12 Jan 2016 00:56

Thanks Maggie.

The Forrest Highway to Perth has now been re-opened, but the advice is to travel with caution. There could be some collapse of burnt out trees.

Also thunderstorms and high winds forecast for the end of the week. That was how the fire originally started :-(

You're more than welcome to most of our rain! :-(

Allan

Allan Report 12 Jan 2016 09:54

If only, Maggie, if only :-(

Part of the bushfire has spread to a peaty area and it will be winter before the rains can help extinguish it....provided we receive the rains :-|

Allan Report 13 Jan 2016 22:44

Well, after a night of very strong winds, the fire has again broken through containment lines.

Hot and very windy conditions expected today :-(

Sorry to hear that Allan, and just when you may have thought it safe to unload the car. :-(

Allan, I hope things calm down soon.

I've missed the news on tv for the last few days, and there's not much info on the internet.

I hope the peat doesn't catch fire....... it will smoulder forever.

Stay safe

Hopefully they will get on top of the break-outs Scozz. The headlines now are 'Milk shortage in Perth' as the fire is in one of the main dairying areas and no milk has been reaching the processing plants.

We've had a milk shortage here almost from the start of the fire :-|

sorry to hear that the fire has broken through the containment lines.

Fire now ninety percent contained :-)

Hopefully, the Firies can now complete the job, and then start on controlling it.

More Firies have arrived from NSW, which means hat there are now 160 interstate guys over here to help. WA guys are desperately in need of rest.

All doing a magnificent job!

Most warnings are being downgraded :-D

just looking at the world wide weather forecast on BBC and plenty of rain due this weekend in the Perth area - hope it hits the right spots

Allan

Allan Report 14 Jan 2016 22:04

Depends on your definition of 'plenty of rain', AnnC

This is the Forecast from the Bureau of Meteorology :

Rain in Perth may not reach where Allan lives.

How many kms south of Perth are you Allan?

Allan

Allan Report 14 Jan 2016 23:39

The fires are about 120 kms south of Perth, Scozz, but there is only a 20% chance of rain.

I haven't checked the local weather as I'm assuming the BBC would only report on State Capitals.

I'll try and dig up Harvey's

It's the thunderstorms that are a problem.

Lightning started this fire, and the ground is timber dry :-|
