Having googled what makes these things purple, it's the amount of betalins.
I shall avoid these like the plague!!!

I have a recipe for a lemon-lime pie, it's soooooo delicious........

but...... if I see a pie that's purple, I don't really expect it to taste of citrus!

A friend gave us a few sweet potatoes (yams) that were purple, she claimed they tasted better........ nope. I prefer the orange ones..... the white ones are tasteless.

I love beetroot - but can no longer eat it. (I won't go in to details- but it's since getting diverticular disease :-()
I tried purple carrots - same effect as beetroot :-( :-(

I certainly won't be eating purple limes!!!!

Just had rainbow carrots tonight.Orange,Purple,Yellow and Parsnip coloured.
They all taste like carrots :-D

Limes are green (some are yellow)........ I don't want purple limes! I don't fancy a polka-dot banana or a striped melon either.

I bought two purple carrots a while ago, don't know what the fuss was about, they tasted just like orange ones.
