From what other users have said, gedcoms from all sites tend to leave some parts behind. Images etc would have to be re-attached for sure.
Depending on how you've displayed dates, they also may become mangled.

Can't remember what MC said, although I can guess. It's only what's been mentioned before ;-)

Thanks, that's a sensible suggestion.

I don't suppose you know of any packages that can synchronise the additional information from GR?

I may be missing something obvious, but the last time I exported the tree from GR I did it as a GEDCOM and the seemed unable to take much of the additional information.

In the future it might be advisable to create an off-line tree to use as your 'master' copy. You can always back-up on an external hard-drive or 'The Cloud' as well.

Hmm, yes this is all rather confirming my fears.

I did contact Support on the off chance that they had extensive logs, which was perhaps a little unreasonable, but the response did not inspire confidence. A bit like Microsoft Technical Help, they were completely accurate and completely useless; basically the entry is not present - well, thanks, I know, that's why I got in touch.

There are definitely at least three people missing, but it could be quite a few more. Fortunately I think I have an up-to-date Gedcom somewhere.

Some other people have mentioned this, but they'd taken a break from using the site.
If you've searched your tree and are sure they are missing, its probably best if you contact support. They do have a back-log of queries to sort out accumulated during the Christmas holidays.

Hi Niall,
Having experienced problems with my GR tree in the past - on more than one occasion - I lopped off branches and pruned it right back. My idea was to retain main branch names so I would continue to receive Hot Matches. However, the hot match system dwindled and back last year I experienced an unforgivable GR 'glitch' concerning my tree so decided to chop the whole thing down once and for all. I have my tree elsewhere now where it is flourishing very healthily :-)

Hi folks, I'm wondering if anyone else had had this experience, or if I'm alone.

I have always used Genes Reunited as my source of truth. A few weeks back i got a match with some of my relations, but on another site. I eagerly harvested the data and returned to GR to update the tree, only to find that the entries were missing.

It's very strange, I have definitely not deleted the relatives and they were definitely here, but now they've gone.

Just wondering if anyone else has encountered this.

Thanks :-S
