I wanted a condolence card to send to a relative in England, but as I havenĀ“t been well & unable to go out. I asked OH to buy one in the local newsagents.
Knowing that card sending is not customery in Spain, I said that a blank card would do instead & I would put my own message in it.
What did he come home with?
A BIRTHDAY card & he was most put out when I said it was most inappropriate.

I've got one just like that.

A while ago when grandson was around10 I asked OH to get him a birthday card. I pointed out that the lad was a very boyish boy and would not appreciate a card full of fairies, princesses or cuddly teddy bears. An hour later he reappeared looking very pleased with himself. The card was fine, a picture of rugby players etc and he couldn't understand why I said it wouldn't do.

He had failed to notice that in large gold letters across the front it said "To a dear uncle" !

Number two son, never one to send cards, sent us a card for our wedding anniversary. On opening it, my wife thanked him profusely, but pointed out that it wasn't her birthday. He duly found a pen, crossed out the birthday and wrote "anniversary". Which he spelled wrong. He was 40 at the time.

We got a Christmas card once, from a friend whose first language isn't English. She had bought cards on a trip to the US...

Our card read........ "Merry Christmas to our mail carrier"

Hardly tact ful Bob to send a card saying"have a wonderful day"to someone who is going to the funeral of a much loved family member.
Would have thought even a MAN would realise that.
