A neighbour of my daughter lost her chimney
and on its way down hit her car, so neighbour
will have to claim on her house insurance and car.

AnninGlos,
Thankfully no one was hurt .
The road at the back is not well used but, unfortunately for us, the main road was closed because the entire aluminium roof from Lidl was ripped off and sections of it were rolling all over the place.
Traffic was diverted round the back of the house

Almost every car stopped to get an eyeful http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/keepsafe/folder/contents/1

The remaining walls were wobbly. They were taken down and rebuilt.

And... Gertrude is back with a vengeance and I need to drive out to Glasgow airport now to pick OH up!

My son is off the Shetland coast on an oil rig
they are been battered by 16 metre waves

So I cant wait to see the end to this awful winds :-( :-(

The storm of 2012 also did damage to the fences, but worse was the chimney stack that came down. It bounced on the roof and landed on my neighbour's conservatory!!

Fortunately we are in an upstairs flat and roof repairs are shared with the ground floor owner, so the bill was a lot less than it might have been! :-)

She seems to have blown off now but, there are still big gusts every now and then.

Andysmum, the storm of Jan 2012 did more than £8000 damage to my garden.!

It took the garden wall and fences down. ( alternate sections of brick and timber)
As the house is elevated above a road at the back, the top 6ft sections of wall form a screen of the garden.
From the ground at street level, to the top of walls is roughly 11ft high.
The wind pushed at it and the whole lot toppled onto the road!

AnninGlos Report 29 Jan 2016 15:34

We seem to have been very fortunate here thank goodness. Strong winds but not strong enough to do damage.

Never mind biscuits!! OH and I have just been outside doing a temporary fix on the damage Gertrude has done to our fence! :-( :-( :-(

Scary is right. It was quite difficult to stand upright, without OH saying "Can you hold that panel still, please?"

We didn't get much sleep last night either.
