I have a potato peeler that is also a knife. It is a hollow handle and you slot the end you are not using into it. It came from Lakeland and I call it 'my knife which you may not use' because I use it all the time, in fact I think I am using my fifth one now.

They were not very expensive, about a fiver a throw and it is the only peeler I can use any sense so I have two in use and had a spare one still in a it's box in the drawer.

Last night a really lovely woman in the village was tell ing me how she had thrown her peeler away so I let her have my spare one and asked her if she wouldn't mind replacing it as my spare.

In case she didn't, I looked on the Lakeland site meaning to get a couple more AND, it doesn't look like they keep them any more!

I can't ask her for it back. I will have to burgle her.

Awww, that's a shame. I have a favourite peeler too!

You did something nice for somebody....... which SHOULD mean three good things will come to you.

I hope one of them is a peeler.

It's enough to put you off doing a good turn and I'm sure there is an unwritten law that says it will always be your favourite tool that gets lost or ruined.

Lakeland might have stopped doing them but Google and you'll find loads of others. I liked the look of a Zyliss one at £6.99.

Has your peeler got a brand name so we all know what you're looking for?

I lost my 'kitchen devil' veg knife once - and the new ones were different :-(

After buying three knives - that were no good, I found, in a tiny over-stuffed independent hardware shop a similar 'kitchen devil' knife. Not the same, bur very similar.
By then, I would have paid ANYTHING, but fortunately, it was only £5.99, and is perfect :-D

Diogenes.

Fred's mate went into Lakeland for me today and bought the last two they had.

Put one in a safe place Sharron.......... just in case!

:-D

I have a favourite paring knife, really small with a curved blade (actually, I have two, because they often get thrown out with the rubbish).

The only place I know to get them is a market stall........ the lady turns up every 4th Saturday. She has wonderful kitchen stuff...... from peelers to frypans.......... everything is really good quality.

I have bought a few things from her over the years, so I was a bit annoyed when she said to me (last time I bought a knife).... "be careful with it, it's really sharp".

Maybe I look incompetent, or just stupid???????? I don't have scars all over my hands!

LadyScozz, I went to hospital for a 'procedure'. The consultant looked at me and said 'Cats?'.
'Yes' I replied, 'But it's not as bad as it looks, all vey affectionate, but one has un-retractable claws - he's, unfortunately, the most affectionate'

By the way Sharron, are you referring to Diogenes the searching tool, or my old pal, Diogenes the cynic?

LadyScozz

LadyScozz Report 2 Feb 2016 01:51

Maggie......... could you please sic your cat onto that "king" idiot we talked about on the other thread?

If your cat could do a claw, pull & twist. the world would appreciate it.

I am talking about Diogenes the peeling tool.

If anybody lives near a Lakeland and is going in there I would be very pleased to buy any one or two of these implements that they might be able to get hold of.
