It's really amazing how many there are in the world. :-S

You know the sort I mean.......... the "Know Alls" :-P

As many of you know, I had a repair job done on my leg last year, it's taking a while to get better, but everything is progressing nicely, thankyou very much, just as the doctor told me.

That's a doctor, a real doctor, a specialist with a squillion letters after his name, studied in Sydney, London & China!

What gives people (with NO medical training, maybe a first-aid course) the right to go ON AND ON AND ON at me, about how long I have been using a walking stick!!

I've been telling them for MONTHS that I'm using it because the specialist said so... but they know better!

Excuse the rant, but I'm really sick of them! I don't bring up the subject, they do!

Except for bashing them over the head with my stick or using lots of bad words (which I'm not in the habit of), how can I get them to SHUT UP?!??????????????????

:-P

'Oh Gawd, I bet he/she doesn't know that. I'll give you his number so you can let him know.'

Watch their reactions. :-D

Believe me, I've tried joking about it, saying my doc knows what he's doing... and so does the physio, but these know-it-alls just won't give up.

I might just shout at them......... ENOUGH!

I don't tell them how to live their lives!

I had a wee bit of a rant last night.

One man was talking to me, and said........ "Oh, you don't have your stick".

"Yes, I do........ it's leaning on the wall next to me"

"I thought you'd have given it away by now"

"are you a specialist?"

"What?"

"I'm amazed at the number of "specialists" around here, you all seem to know much more about my conditon & recovery than my doctor or me! I will continue to use the stick for as long as I need it, as advised by the specialist, and I'd appreciate it if you would all stop going on about it".

(All the time I'm saying this, my stomach is churning........ but why should I be concerned about upsetting these people?)

Silence.

Then...............

"Well, if that's the way you feel about it."

I should have started swinging the stick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hopefully he'll pass on the message to the other know-it-alls.

Run over by a taxi jumping the lights at 60mph..
Left for dead.
Smashed leg.
Used a stick for two years but I didn't need a specialist to tell me I needed one.
Negative comments about my stick - nil.

The many inconveniences of being temporarily disabled made me very sympathetic to the needs of those who are stuck with it.

Same here Rollo.

I was stuck with crutches for three months. I was amazed at the number of people who sat and watched me struggling to open a door! But there were more than enough nice people who were more than helpful.

I've always opened doors (and helped in other ways) for anyone who needed help... now I am more observant.

I've also been shocked at grown MEN (no women) who think it's funny to pretend to kick my walking stick. One of those men has a prosthetic eye....... would he think it funny if I pretended to stick a fork in his good eye?
