What amazes me is that he eats it.

If we have a take-away, and that is not very often, I suffer very badly from eyes and belly syndrome so there is always some left in the fridge.

Likewise, on the even less rare occasions we eat out, I will always doggy bag.

That is mixed with anything else hanging about to make pasties for his lunch box. They generally taste better than anything you can buy and are more interesting than sandwiches ( and cheaper already!)

You could pad that soup out a bit and make pasties with it. I would have made bubble and squeak with the spuds and brussels and made soup with the carcass. No, I would have made him make soup with the carcass.

Oh Sharron!
You make me laugh.
I tried to take a leaf out of your book about waste and from a TV chef. who did that programme about Christmas Dinner on a budget

After our Christmas meal, I did what he did...... I took all the leftover veg and made soup from it.
I've never added cold roast tatties to soup on my life before but, I did on boxing day.

It wasn't too bad but the taste and smell of leftover sprouts was a tad overpowering

OH ate it without complaint but most of it went in the freezer.
How long should I leave it in there before chucking it in the bin?

I like the idea of using the maple syrup up, to make way for sloe gin or elderflower liqueur - a woman after my own heart :-D

Let us know how OH gets on with his lunch :-S

Sharron might be coming back.

Have been busy with the leftovers again.

I concocted something the other day with some cheese and the pickled crab apples that were not much enjoyed and that was a bit of a failure too, so I have mixed it with some mashed potato and flour and an egg and It is baking at the moment. Probably a prelude to going in the bin.

I once decided that flapjacks didn't need sugar as well as syrup. Of course, they didn't stick together at all.

This afternoon, I did the same with some maple syrup I bought because the bottle will make a good container for sloe gin or elderflower liqueur for Christmas presents. Made the flapjack mixture without sugar because I have more jam than Hartleys in my cupboard. I thought that, if I make some yoghurt, in the vacuum flask with a tablespoonful of bought, and mix a bit of jam in it, put it in a jar with some of the flapjacky stuff, OH can take it in his lunch box along with the pasties made of whatever is in the fridge on Sunday.

And still he comes home!
