That's not true, by the way. It's a joke.

I asked my mate to get me a chicken. He brought it round when I was upstairs. I shouted out "Put it in the freezer". Next time I looked it had frozen to death.

I can't stand strong smelling fabric conditioners.
When 'Arial' washing powder came out, I couldn't go anywhere near it in the shop :-(
Fortunately the 'enzyme' part of it seems to have diminished over the years.

I don't use fabric conditioner since the time when one particular type nearly stopped me breathing when I used it on my duvet, but next door do and you can't be outside or have the window open with it :-( I think because they smoke they don't realise how strong the smell is.

..my neighbours have their washing machine in the garden - under an open lean-to, but in the garden.
I presume it's closed when not in use, but I never thought about cats (and other 'things') getting in there. :-S

Pungent fabric conditioner totally pervades my garden on sunny days. Don't know why I bother with flowers :-|

Oh frightening (for both of you) Rose. I have passed this on to daughter, owner of very nosey cat who always liked to climb into things. I supoose it would be the same with the tumble drier. Glad Spike is ok anyway

One of mine liked getting in the washing machine too. Fortunately, the first time she did it, I actually saw her get in, just as I was about to close the door, and 'snuggle down' amongst the dirty sheets!!
This was a short-lived 'habit' by her, but, 9 years on, I automatically check where they are - particularly Betty - before turning the machine on.!!

Oh Rambling Rose, how frightening . I have to make sure my washing machine door is closed before youngest grandchild comes to see us, he is only 10 months old and tries to climb in , he is fascinated by them.

Not had much time to post the last week or so ( researching the impossible and visits etc) but I did want to tell you about my cat's brush with death and the loss of one of his 9 lives. It's ok it doesn't have a sad ending but it might be a timely warning to those of you who have curious cats.

I had a pair of cotton gloves which I decided to rinse before using and so as the sink was full and the washing machine empty I threw them in, without looking shut the door, pressed 'rinse' and went in the other room.

A minute or so later I heard Spike yowling like he does when he fights with the other cat, but it sounded distant somehow so I went to look where the sound was coming from, and yes you've guessed it, either before the gloves went in or following as I shut the door, Spike had climbed in the washer. :-0 :-0

I screamed for son who came running and when the door unlocked ( seemed to take forever) out poured the water and a soaked cat who was in a poor state of shock. He shook for an hour while I held him wrapped in towels, having phoned the vet who was just closing but gave advice to look out for shock ( me and the cat both!).

Cut a long story short Spike slept all night, but he was back on his feet and though a little quiet the next day, has recovered ok, needless to say he runs when the washing machine is on.

Anyway, just a warning even if your cat has never done so before, do check it hasn't climbed in on a whim, it would have been certain disaster if it had been anything but a cold rinse and I hadn't heard him in time.

Grey hairs? Just another few dozen!
