I just got on My Threads, for the first time in a week :-)

I do like Starfrit items, I've had several of the manula ones over the years and never had any problems. All are still in use, and I would never classify any of them as flimsy even though made of plastic. So it has been disappointing to read those reviews.

You're right Sylvia, it is a fragile piece of kit

But, if it works for the guaranteed period, I will be happy

Will come back, if I can get on 'My Threads' !!

Gins ............

That sounds great

But will you please come back and tell us what you think after you have used it several times??

I've held off from buying one because consumers over here are complaining about the flimsiness of the peeler, and the fact that some of them begin to fail (arm breaking off, spring flying loose, stalling and not working properly) after as few as 10 uses.

One set of reviews that I read had 6 out of 24 reviewers failing the product ....... that's 25% who thought it a problem, and covered peelers bought between March 2008 and October 2015. The others loved it.

I know it's a small sample, and was only reviews sent to one Canadian store that sells it, but still .............. !

Most of those who had bought it and then returned it said the Starfrit Manual Peeler was much better, and I've had that one for many years, but have only used it for peeling apples when making apple sauce.

Well I was dubious about it and thought...........hmmm

But it really does do a great job and is so fast!

Hi Dermot

I have PsA (psoriatic arthritis) and the pain in my hands does not allow me to peel in the normal way

This little device is brilliant

A 'spud' is a spud, no matter how it’s deflowered.

Our pigs were always the happy recipients of the skins which they devoured in their usual gentile snout in the trough tactic.

Chips away!

I bought this last week and used it just now

I'm so impressed! You can use it with batteries or an ac plug (not included)

It has 2 spare blades in the base unit

I peeled 3 large spuds in seconds, all I had to do was chop the ends off the potato'
