"The Train" is one of the few films which Rotten Tomatoes have given a 100% 5* score. They are right it is a film which has grown and grown over the years. I saw it for the first time in a real cinema!

"Witness" with Harrison Ford and Kelly McGillis - wonderful - the scenery, everything

"The Sting" - fantastic and music to die for

"Some like it hot" - hysterical

"Lawrence of Arabia" - wonderful scenery, music - heartbreaking at times

"Les Miserables" - wonderful

"Australia" with the fantastic cast and a dear little boy - Nulla

"Die Hard" with Bruce Willis and the lovely Alan Rickman - though he was horrible in that film

"Robin Hood" with Alan Rickman - terrific

"Robin Hood" with Errol Flynn - a classic

Most watched,

Apollo 13
Love Actually
Northwest Frontier ( if you like this you will know what I mean when I say I still can't watch them walk the rail track...even though I know what happens lol)
LOTR
Schindler's List
The Princess Bride

I can't choose a favourite film, lots of different ones for different moods and reasons.
Some I really must watch again soon :-)

favorite

No Country for Old Men - 2007
Directed by the Cohen brothers (who also direct Fargo) a gripping tale of suspense and nihilism with Javier Bardem bringing the wraith hitman Anton Chigurh to life. If you like this then you will like "The Onion Field" and "Charlie Varrick". Goodfellas and "Pulp Fiction" it is not.

most watched
"The Third Man" 1949 - oh the direction, music and photography have never been surpassed. How could they be - Orsen Welles, Graham Greene, Joseph Cotton, Alida Valli all in the mix plus the unforgettable music from Alex Korda. The BBC recently put out a clean print in HD which was wonderful and convinced me to fork out for the bluray version.
If you like this then you will also like Casablanca, Dr Zhivago and The Magic Roundabout and don't have Mr Putin on yr Christmas card list..

runners up

"The Sting" - favorite; the world is a much poorer place without Paul Newman.
"Chicken Run" (most watched)
If you like this you probably avoid KFC.

My OH favorite English movie is "The Bridges of Madison County" but she is only allowed to watch it after making sure a big box of Kleenex tissues is handy. Her most watched are Back to the Future and "The E.T".
