Here is the latest update from change.org

On the evening of Friday 20FEB16 following your public outcry and immense media interest, the Home Office decided to cancel removal directions for Myrtle to allow us to present a medical report and legal submissions which they expect to receive TOMORROW (Monday 22FEB16).

The Home Office decision is just a stay of execution, NOT a grant of leave to remain so we still need your support, your signatures and your help including in the form of a donation on GoFundMe if you can:

gofund.me/c8kav6ws

Every little bit helps to support Myrtle's legal fight to be granted permission to stay with her family here.

We are working through the weekend on all the relevant and possible options for Myrtle and seek to submit the further legal submissions and evidence TOMORROW so the Home Office will not have a basis to issue new removal directions - that is why your continued support is absolutely crucial in the next 24hrs.

Please continue to support, sign and circulate the petition and please consider making a donation to Myrtle's legal fund if you can so we can continue the fight for her:

We are so lucky to have each and everyone one of you behind us - we look forward to letting you know the next update.

Completely agree Rose. What a shame our country shows it's lack of compassion in such a case. There was no need for the situation to get anywhere near the point of sending this lady away from her family, and how much time and money has it all cost. Hopefully Myrtle will soon know peace that she can stay with her family, I hope the stress won't have shortened her time left.

It's just a matter of common sense and compassion, she's not a burden on the state, she's not engaging in undemocratic practices or likely to be, she's not going to inconvenience anyone! She's an ill old lady who wants to live with her family and be cared for until she dies. If we can't manage that in this country then what do we have left to be proud of.

Let's hope they finally see sense. How ridiculous that this poor woman has been put through all this stress. What must she feel when she sees a Somalian family have been rehoused in a house costing around a million pounds? A house costing less than the one they were in, but a Million!!!!

Thankyou both, have just seen this

""Now Mrs Cothill’s legal team has put forward new medical evidence to show she is not well enough to cope with living alone in South Africa.

Home Office officials postponed the removal in order to consider the documents."

I have signed the petition Rose, but did I see somewhere that deportation has been delayed or am I dreaming that?

that you look at this link re the lady Rollo has mentioned on another thread and consider whether you might feel able to sign the petition and send an email to Theresa May. Time is of the essence as the deportation of this ill, 92 year old lady is scheduled for Tuesday.

Thankyou
