Daffodils in Flower

About 40 years ago, when I lived in Hampshire and before climate change upset all the seasons, my mother and I had a friendly rivalry as to whose daffodils would flower first.

The hope was to get them in flower before St David's Day, but we rarely achieved it. I usually won, mainly because mine were against a south-facing wall and Mum's were in the open.

This year, some 400 miles further north, I have had daffodils in flower for about a week now and even my clematis is producing leaf buds months before it should!

Anybody else's garden getting confused? :-S :-S

We had daffodils out in December, Just a couple, then quite a few in January and loads in February. Yes the garden is very confused.

I think mine might have been out in January but the gales put paid to that idea!!

These are the ones that weren't quite so far advanced.

We've had daffs in flower about a fortnight now and one of the Camellias is in full bloom. Some fields of oilseed rape have been showing some yellow flower for a few weeks as well and the Hawthorn leaves are growing in the hedges.

We are very near the Channel coast in the far south east of UK.

Daffodils were out around here in December, but some later varieties are still in bud.
Camelias are out in a nearby garden and magnolia flowers are showing their colour, but buds haven't fully opened yet.
The week before Christmas, I noticed about 3 or 4 forsythia flowers on our bush, but that seems to have checked itself and is only now starting to show more flower buds.
Lots of catkins on the trees round about and blackthorn coming into blossom.

... A very confusing time........

I still have petunias flowering in pots in our very sheltered back yard.

Oh, you people are so cruel!

Where I live the ground is still frozen solid covered by a couple of feet of snow and it's snowing again now.

It will be a couple of months before I see a daffodil.

Sigh!!!

last year,I bought 4 tiny pots of flowering narcissus from Ikea.

When they finished flowering, I put them outside with the intention of repotting them for this year but, I forgot all about them.
The weather over this weekend has been glorious and yesterday when I was hanging out the washing I spotted my wee plant pots ( I stored them inside a bigger one) .

They are in full bloom again and are now sitting on my decking looking lovely and yellow
