This thread has morphed into something(s) I know little about.

Meanwhile, I have recently from memory compiled a list of 563 individuals who worked with me - long & short periods - with the same smallish London employer since 1970.

The list would surely form the basis of a 'grand reunion' evening were I to know if they are still alive & their contact details.

Suggestions please. :-)

Hi Bob

yep, I'm also on omeprazole taken before breakfast, but also take Ranitidine after evening meal as 40 mg omeprazole did not fully control the GERD.

I take nothing else other than 1 or sometimes 2 Tums or Diovol, perhaps 2 or 3 times a week. I don't like Gaviscon!

Plus I do keeping from regularly eating food that causes reflux. I do slip every now and again :-)

Alcohol has been a no-no for me for the last 5 or 6 years.

I'm waiting for an appointment to see a new specialist (mine has retired) because my GP wants me to have a check-up endoscopy as it is about 12 years since I had the last one.

It's very expensive ............ we have to pay for all our medications up to $1000 (ca £450-500) a year, then our Extended Health Plan kicks in and covers 75-100% of drugs. The omeprazole alone costs about $450 (ca £200-225) every 3 months.

Thank heavens for the Extended Plan, which usually starts to kick in about April/May every year!!

Hi Sylvia, yes basically same thing....Reflux!!

I also am a sufferer, for me,

Omeprozole is prescribed for this......other than that gallons of Gavisgon (which only masks the problem, rather than cures)............or the like...........

Bob .......

do you mean Barrett's Syndrome?

I think there has been a thread on this on here years ago. I seem to remember some guy posting and asking if he had to stop drinking because he had it.

The answer is................. probably YES!

I have it, was not told I had to stop drinking alcohol, but have since found I cannot drink because it causes problems . and those are the ones that could make Barretts syndrome change into a pre-cancerous, or even cancerous condition.

ad that is probably more than you want to know :-D

Dermot,

As a retired referee - (I retired a long number of years ago) I have happy memories of my refereeing career.

I now referee Walking Football matches where the players are over 50.

Referees & Linesmen - I wouldn't do their job.

You'd nearly believe that they had neither a mum nor a dad if you were to consider some of the astonishing greetings they receive from the partisan spectators. :-S
