It might be possible to pay for a copy of a Decree Absolute. That would probably only tell you that the marriage has been terminated not the nitty-gritty.

The National Archives quote these statistics for surviving records

1858-1927: almost 100%
1928-1937: 80%
After 1937 : less than 0.2%

Is it possible to trace divorce records from 40s-50s? If so, what information would you need?
