I haven´t had a bath since May 2007.
A daily shower (or more) is great for speed in the morning & very refreshing in hot weather, but I really miss having a relaxing soak.
Am I alone in this?

I agree with you. I haven't had a bath since about the year 2000, but mainly because with my knee replacements and my size I can't get into or out of the bath. I do prefer a shower but every now and then (especially when the arthritis flares up) it would be nice to relax in a warm bath.

A shower is more refreshing and use less water.

Yes David.
I realise it is more environmentally friendly to have a shower, but the possibility of an occasional warm bath when you get to be an OAP would be lovely.
Generally here in Spain, baths are as rare as hens teeth, especially in more modern properties.

I LOVE my bath! A shower is fine for getting clean quickly, and in hot weather, but nothing beats a nice long soak. I read in the bath, and it's great for de-stressing.

I'm with you Wisechild. We've just had our shower room gutted and a bath - with shower over - installed. Best of both worlds, you can't beat a relaxing soak in the tub. A shower is great for a quick freshen up and hair wash but just doesn't reach the achey parts when needs be.

:-D

Deffo Bath

I love to wallow for an hour
with my bubbles and a cat sat on the edge of the bath :-D :-D

I also love my bath....
I like a shower, but twice a week normally....I'm pretty predictable in my habits...I have a lovely bath when I'm at home...there nothing quite like it for relaxing the muscles and a feeling of well being.
I understand a lot of folk find it difficult to get in the bath and wet rooms are the latest must haves but as long as I can I will continue to have my baths.
My late husband also liked his bath, even though he found it difficult, but we bought a seat that was controlled by a battery that let him down into it and brought him up when he got out.I could leave him in there for a while while he relaxed.

Shower. Can't remember how long ago it's been since I had a bath, at least a decade. There's no physical reason for not using one; I just feel its a waste of time.

Waterless baths are all the rage in the House of Commons - smelly pompous devils.

we had our bath taken out in 2001

its only a small bathroom so we had a shower fitted over the bath . it meant the bath was a large shower tray

As it was an iron bath it was very deep and it became difficult to get in and out of so we decided to get rid and have the bathroom reconfigured Have a large walk in corner shower which now runs off the gas heater in the kitchen .

I hate going away now and the ensuite only has a bath etc

Shower in the mornings or if I´m going out but I used to love a good soak in the evenings in the bath. So it was whoopee when this house came with a bath, I have used it twice when I have needed warmth and soak on my back in winter.
I usually just climb in the hot tub now. :-D

I have a wet room because of difficulty getting into. ,(and more importantly) out of the bath. Haven't had a bath for a few years.

I love having a shower, can do my hair at the same time, without bending over a wash basin.

However would love to be able to have a bath once in a while. I too used to read a book while in the bath, sometimes I'd have a cup of coffee and/or a piece of toast too.

Sheer bliss!

On the subject of difficulty getting in and out of baths....

Does anyone have one of those baths with doors? :-S
How do they work? Presumably the bather has to get in when it is empty and empty it before being able to open the door and get out? :-0

I guess they must work to a satisfactory level to still be available?

BrendafromWales

BrendafromWales Report 29 Feb 2016 19:19

I did look at bath with doors, but at the time didn't want a big upheaval with husband being so very poorly, and it was difficult for him to have a shower as he was on oxygen with an inflatable bag.
The seat we got was ideal as the sides came out over the bath rims,so he could sit on edge of bath on it.
It was very strong as he was a big man .the control would stick on wall and when put switch on ,the sides would go in and let him down...then when ready to get out lifted him up...it wouldn't go down if it wouldn't have enough battery to get it back up...
I know he loved it.I gave it to a friend afterwards who does use it.
I like a shower and very often finish off a bath with the shower on my back, but for the legs ,it's a bath every time

I also haven't had a bath in years, since 2003 in fact. I would love to be able to soak in a hot bath, especially when the arthritis is acting up, but the difficulty in getting just makes all the aches come back 20-fold!

We have 2 bathrooms, both have bath/shower combos.
