I have a low dose aspirin daily, it seems to be a standard back-up for other problems, such as diabetes. I do also take statins. Two different things aren't they? Aspirin to thin the blood a bit, statins to control cholesterol. Both of course to modify circulation

Thank you Jane. Chemists don't like selling them in anything other than small quantitys. They perhaps have a history of association with attempted suicides.

I was browsing these on ebay. They are readily available in larger quantity from US
Has anyone a story regarding Aspirin?
Why do Doctors prescribe one thing while they s take another?
They are not going to ingest any thing harmful are they?

I don't believe that the daily low dose aspirin lowers cholesterol. Statins do. The aspirin however has been proved to lower the incidence of heart attacks.

It is impossible to answer the question without at least some medical knowledge but to my mind it depends why the aspirin is given. I don't approve of anyone taking a drug on the basis that it might do some good or might prevent something that might never happen anyway. But it is a different matter if it is prescribed by a doctor for a good medical reason. I would always say talk to your doctor and ask why something is being prescribed.

To keep the record straight I am on low dose aspirin amongst other drugs prescribed many years ago when a particularly severe migraine put me in hospital for some days.

David ,my OH takes a low dose Aspirin daily. I have also heard it is a good idea to always carry an Aspirin tablet just in case you should suffer a stroke/heart attack.

I'm sure aspirin may have been discussed before in some context

In this age of so many of us being on STATINS do you agree with some Doctors

that a daily child dosage ASPIRIN is safer and does more good?

I'd appreciate the community's comments.
