He was obviously a great, loved and talented guy but I can't understand why his passing made headline news for what seemed at least three days when there is so much going on in the World which affects people more directly.

George Martin did a wonderful job in helping musicians make the most of their talents.

The Beatles were popular in the early days at the Cavern, but needed guiding and honing their musical skills and they were lucky that George Martin helped them so much.

I knew them in the early days as I played in a jazz band at the Cavern and they were our supporting group on some nights and we shared the small band room with them..Their style really caught on with the young audience, and Brian Epstein and
George Martin recognised this.

I heard him saying on a clip on TV today that they really didn't understand the chords ,and he got them to learn to play the piano and he learned the fingering on the guitars so that they could understand each other.
A lovely unassuming man.

RIP Sir George Martin .. <3

A talented man who used it to get the best out of recording artists. Raw talent needs to be honed and having someone so skilled as Sir George must have helped all those he recorded with, from whatever genre.

He allowed the Beatles to express themselves and the rest is history.

Thank you Sir George, you were a star. RIP <3

Paul has said he was a second father to him. Very well said.

They played part of an interview with John this morning, when he {John} said that George had moulded them with all his experience.

George Martin had been a producer for years before the Beatles, all types of music, classical, middle of the road, and oddly enough, comedy records.

The records with Peter Sellers and Sophia Loren were produced by George.
