Think I would sooner have the colds :-(

My mum would cut up old pillowcases and sheets that had gone past it ! to make hankies for us all

In those days there wasn't Kleenex and the loo roll was San Izal which was very rough and soon gave you a big red snozzle ;-)

Am sitting here laughing, especially at your hand through the fly hole ;-)

Beats wiping your nose on your sleeve :-0

But they are so soft and absorbent.

You don't think I would have used anything harsh on Fred's little botty do you? I have washed them since as well!

MargaretM

MargaretM Report 9 Mar 2016 19:18

Me too, Joy, but it's a little different from blowing your nose on them.

I have one humdinger of a cold at the moment. It is one of those that make you feel like you might be the Victoria Falls.

Well, I find that paper tissues not only cost money but also leave my nose sore and scabby so I tend to use an old pair of cotton knickers as a handkerchief when I am snotful but they do tend to get lost when I am in bed.

I occurred to me that Fred used to wear those really luscious interlock underpants with the big flappy legs(how many ladies have the vapours now?) but they were very soft on his bony old bum and what was good enough for his bony bum is good enough for my snotty nose.

What bliss they are as handkerchiefs and, as a bonus, you can stick your hand through the fly hole and keep your hanky handy through the night as well.
