We returned from our eight weeks holiday in Lanzarote on Friday. We went out for dinner last night, I had roast garlic chicken with mushrooms and black carrots. The carrots were amazing, does anyone know where I can buy some?

I think black carrots are actually deep purple. Used to be available in waitrose supermarket but not sure if they still stock them.

Last year in France we were served carrots in the colours of the Tricoleur; blue white and red.

I have eaten many carrots over the years.

Call me daft......but isn't a black carrot actually a purple carrot?

Blackish looking on the outside, but when you slice it, it is purple in colour?

Would love to know what it so amazing about it?

A carrot is carrot?

Looks like you might have to have dinner at that restaurant again Paula ;-)

I'd be looking round multicultural shops and markets.

Seeds are available so you could always grow your own.

they sound like blue potatoes, which are actually mauvish or bluish-grey, often with a whiter area in the centre.

The skins are so dark that they look black!

They're different species Prickolls

:-)

They're probably crossed with licorice. That would account for the amazing taste :-D

PollyinBrum

PollyinBrum Report 10 Mar 2016 20:45
