Today is hubby's birthday . It's the first of the anniversarys after his passing last October

We used to go to our favourite local restaurant for a celebratory evening meal for a joint birthday celebration, mine is next week . and for our wedding anniversary in Aug

It's a converted barn that was built in Tudor times and aptly called The Barn

Grandaughter and I are going there today for Sunday Lunch .

It's going to be a Happy Birthday to him . I wil have a couple of wines as won't be driving but hope I don't get upset and embarrass grandaughter

So It's the first of the firsts to get through , hopefully with not too much sadness

Shirley the "first of the firsts" are always difficult. Just enjoy your lunch and treasure your precious memories.

Shirley, this year will be difficult with all the "firsts" but you are being very positive and facing them head on, so to speak. It's good that granddaughter can share the time with you today. Will be thinking of you <3

Well done Shirley, you are facing up to living by yourself really well - I am sure your family are proud of you, and your husband too. No way will your granddaughter be embarrassed by you, ever. You coped with your first Christmas without your hubby, now his birthday and I am sure you will feel his presence on your upcoming birthday.

You have a holiday to look foward to when the destination is chosen, and longer brighter days ahead.

Hope your cat is proving to be a comfort too

I had forgotten about Christmas !!

So today was nos two .but nos one of personal events

We had a nice lunch and wished him happy birthday wherever he is

We had a few eye filled moments but held it together.

Grandaughter took it hard losing him but she has been a big support to me

I am so pleased you have such a lovely granddaughter, Shirley, I know how much she supported you and your husband in the past. She was on holiday when your husband passed away I think so it must have been very hard for her.

Of course you will tear up at times but it's nothing to be ashamed of. I am glad you had a nice lunch, no washing up either lol!

Remember happy times

Thank you all

I know what we are going through isn't a one off .

Anyone who has lost a much loved has the same road to go along as they come to terms with to their loss .

It's a very lonely road though when you are in the house alone
