Coolangatta is in Qld, Tweed Heads is in NSW......... the towns have sort of "merged".

I haven't experienced it, but I'm told that New Year's Eve is hilarious in the Twin Towns.

Crowds of people gather at the Qld side of a bridge.... Midnight........ Yay! Happy New Year.... & they spend 45 minutes kissing & cuddling, cheering etc......... then at 12.55am they all run over the bridge into NSW, where it's almost midnight and do it all again.

Double hangover?

:-D

There is a city in Canada which straddles the borders of Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Alberta is on Mountain Standard Time and changes time twice a year, while Saskatchewan is on Central Standard Time all year. CST is 1 hour ahead of MST

Lloydminster is the exception .................. it opted for the whole city to be on the same time as Alberta, even though half is in each province.

Thus, it is on MST like Alberta and observes DST. So in winter all of Lloydminster is on the same time as Alberta, but it is on the same time as Saskatchewan in summer.

Sorry Kay, after the change you will have to wait until April 11th before the mornings are as bright as they are today (assuming an approximately London latitude) .

I hate clock-changing.
It is a waste of time (no pun intended) and it takes weeks to get all our clocks and watches and appliances updated, only to have to do it again six months later.
The UK should stay on GMT permanently, it's what's used by airlines, the military, shipping, weather forecasting, astronomy, space exploration et al.

We go off DST the weekend after Easter...... which will make NSW the same time as Qld.

When you live near the border, it can be awful! I know many people who live in one state and work in the other.

Our clocks went forward 1 hour early this morning (Sunday) .........

...... that means that we will be 1 hour less behind GMT for the next few weeks until the UK goes on to DST.

This varies across the two countries according to the time zones.

Basically the East Coast of Canada is now 3 hours behind the UK, instead of 4

Toronto is now 4 hours behind instead of 5

The West Coast is 7 hours behind instead of 8

Any of you who phone or need to make contact with Canada and the US over this interim should please take note.

It was pitch black and cold at 6:30am this morning ........... which was really only 5:30 am :-(
