40 years after it was written, Alan Bleasdale’s classic play Down The Dock Road comes to Liverpool's Royal Court.
The show was a smash hit when it opened in 1976 and this run will see Les Dennis and Andrew Schofield together on stage.
It’s Grandad’s last day as a Docker after 40 years’ hard labour. It’s the lads that he’ll miss the most. Mickey the comedian, Dobbo the Croxteth Cassanova and Wonderboy who is a few crates short of a full pallet. Then there is Mad McKenna, tough as nails and the undoubted leader of the pack.
Grandad wants to see his last day out in peace but there is no chance of that with this lot around. Dreams, reality, a stolen watch and a case of scotch all come together for a day in the life of the Docks as they used to be.
Set in 1976 this show is a look back at the characters of the Liverpool Dockyards and the tricks and scams that they used to get up to. As funny and relevant now as it was 40 years ago, this is a chance to see Bleasdale at his best.

Ooooo that murder I was telling you about..did a bit more digging...remember I said one of the character witness said he had known her and her parents for years and there were mental issues with all. Well I actually found her death..double checked DOB with the 1939 reg, she died in the next County where there happened to be a big asylum.

Did not expect to find anything there on her because of closure laws, but they have put some earlier indexes which are searchable..so just put the surname in and one result popped up...checked him out and it was her grandfather :-( :-( :-(
