So, will the new research vessel be called the Boaty McBoatface then?

That will teach them not to ask the public again.

Roll on the EU poll.

What, the EU referendum?

I found this thread a bit obscure upon first reading, but perhaps Det is closer than one thinks.

I would ask who was behind the push to have another referendum and why? What do they have to gain? What do we have to lose?

Divide and conquer springs to mind.

Who has most to gain from a shift of stock exchange and manufacturing from the UK to European mainland countries? Certainly not the UK. The thought of paying duty on goods sold from the UK to Europe will, without doubt, mean a loss of thousands of UK jobs as manufacturers shift production to Europe.

As far as the migrant situation is concerned (and it's not one I am particularly concerned about), can we police our borders without any help from Europe?

How easy will it be for illegal entry to the UK if France does not have to care about a country not in the EU? It will be an easy solution to a problem on its own shores so why would it expend further energy and outlay on keeping illegals within its own boundaries?

Really, I was wondering how wise it was to trust a populace who want to name a research vessel 'Boaty McBoatface' with a decision as important as to whether we remain in or leave the EU.

TBH, you'd lost me connecting the Research vessel and the EU referendum. :-S

I think Sharron was spot on. It's only General Elections that are taken seriously.

Local elections are usually influenced by the 'let's give the government a kicking' faction.

When it comes to Europe why do so many get elected whose aim is to just collect expenses and then complain that it is a gravy train, rather than those who are intent on improving the EU.

As for PCC elections, did many know anything about them?

What hope for the referendum being based on real issues?

If I can put my 2 penny worth in....I don't live there so just looking in from the outside.......
You're paying a lot to an organisation that isn't financially responsible - no audit has been signed off on the books for how many years ?
You are losing more and more control over everything not just the borders;
You asked for special treatment when they knew you were voting to leave and they laughed in your face didn't even pretend to give you anything - what do you think they'll do if you vote to stay in ?
Do you honesty think you'll be worse off out of the EU ?

On the boat front.....I think it's really funny the name...yes never ask the masses what they want they may tell you !

Yes definitely.
Obviously some businesses will be better off out of the EU especially if they can get social and human rights legislation reduced.
