It's Kindle e-readers that need the update. I have an old Kindle Fire which is still working perfectly.

I am surprised that the power button solution didn't work.

If your kindle doesn't automatically update, then it would have needed the update by 22 March. I think it applies to Kindles bought before 2014. You should have had a couple of emails about two weeks before the date advising you which needed updating and how to do it. Currys will be able to tell you though.

Once again, many thanks for your replies. Have tried all suggestions with no luck. I did see the message from Amazon about updating the day after closure. I think it also mentioned that Kindle Fire would not be affected.

Will try Currys and if no luck it will be destined for the nearest skip - plenty around here at the moment.

pop into Curry's with it - they are very helpful - or ring Amazon - they are most helpful too

older Kindles had to be updated by 22nd March last -

my original was bought from Curry's - took it on holiday and it packed in - Curry's just replaced it with no bother

somehow or other you have activated accessability mode, there is prob nothing wrong with yr Kindle. Go into settings and turn acces.mode off. The yellow box will disappear.

Check your model and known problems on the online Kindle users' forums.

I had an old Kindly die on me and had to replace it which was annoying. All your content should be held on your Amazon account for back up anyway.

Good luck

I think my Kindle has died on me. Can open it but it seems stuck. When I finally open a book I can't move the pages and have to tap it hard to get back to anything.

When I do finally manage to get into anything it has a yellow lines around it making it look like it's in a box.

Also, there is some woman talking on it which I have have never had before.

Sorry if this seems muddled but I am at a loss as to what to do.
