For C of E m.certs pre-WW1, check if there's an online image first. There are several regions that are quite well-covered online at one or more of Ancestry, FS, FMP. It's a small effort to find out if any of your regions are covered, with potential savings. (These certs are the originals from which the GRO copies originate.)

Make sure you use the official site and only pay £9.25. There are some rip-off merchants out there with what look like official sites but will charge a hefty mark-up.

Might sound like a daft question but how do I get copies of these certificates? Can I apply online? I've been doing the family tree for a lot of years but never bought any. I :-S. Thanks in anticipation! Tracy x
