The North East of England is following the Manchester model so we are watching events with interest. Health & Social Care were not in the original Manchester plan but were added at the last minute. I gather that Health & Social Care is not very good in Manchester so the new arrangement could be a vast improvement whereas here in the North East is in the main very good.

As you say having all the various Services communicate with each other could be good for the Patients but this will take time and if money is saved then further improvements could be moved.

Would like to hear views on this ,as from today the local authority for Greater Manchester are taking on the handling of Health care
I believe it could work as I believe a lot of money could be saved.

I live in Wales and though we have different rules from England and Scotland,
I used to be frustrated about the lack of communication between the various services I had to deal with when I cared for my husband at home.

They told me that they were on different types of Internet so that Dealing with hospital,GP 's,diabetes, incontinence and social services.the lack of communication left a lot to be desired.

I think this is something that can be handled more efficiently if the authority will listen and act more directly....just lets hope it works and maybe will be rolled out nationally if successful.,
