Liquorice is good for you Shirley.
I too had the wooden liquorice sticks in the war when we didn't have sweets..chewed them till they were stringy and mouth all yellow.
I got back into eating black soft liquorice when in Australia,,,very popular there, and at that time 2004....the only place you could get the soft eating sort was at Lakeland.now you can get it everywhere.
We've always had Pontefract cakes..better for you than chocolate, and keeps the digestive system working well.!
I must be out of touch as I don't know Skittles. Only the ones you play ...oh well?.call me an old fuddy duddy.

i have a bag of Pontefract cakes on the go I

I LOVEEEEEE liquorice ,used to buy the penny bars of liquorice wood when i was at school in the late 1940/early 50,s some were sweet and lovely to chew on ,some though were bitter and a disappointment.

Hubby loved liquorice allsorts , me too but I love the ones with the blue or red granules on em.

Having lost loads of weight from the stress of hubby being in hospital and then passing away , i do admit I feel better from the weight loss ,strangely I feel slimmer from inside . This is probably from the less excess fluid I would build up. So I am trying not to put any weight back on

I treat myself every weekly shop to a bag of Hariboo pontefract cakes , they are only a £1 so a good buy

I still have some left from this weeks shop on Tuesday.

Have to say too its better not to be a greedy guts and eat em all at once cos I find they have other effects !!!!!

Do they make you feel lively ?

Grandson used to react very strangely to them.
Perhaps they've altered the colouring now........
