Sadly, that little boy was caught by an alligator at a Disney hotel and the alligator has been captured and several have been shot.

Everybody knows that alligators will eat people and that they live in water in Florida. They have been in Florida since forever, in the spot where Disney chose to build their very lucrative leisure facility.

Why was the alligator caught?

Several have been shot? That's news to me. Do you mean at the Disney Park?

Alligators are shot throughout their habitats in the USA but only when an acknowledged danger to life, other than during the annual cull of course.

Edit: Sorry, I have rechecked the news reports and they state 4 gators had been euthanised.

Still better that and try to recover the poor child's body than not, even though not necessary in the end.

As I understand it, the little boy drowned. He was found 'intact'.

I think the guilt lies with Disney and their greed.

yep, they had to cut open the alligators to see if one or more of them had any human remains.

So 4 have been caught and "euthanized" so far .... I ahven't seen any reports saying just how they were euthanized.

But the little boy was found "intact", as the sheriff delicately put it.

BUT ............. why was he allegedly paddling as far as 10' out into the water without someone with him?? News reports that I have seen or heard are conflicting .... some say his father was with him and paddling in 1' water at the lake edge, others say Dad turned round to see boy being dragged.

You don't leave a toddler alone in any depth of water anywhere, never mind alligators possibly being there!

So, as well as the gorilla, that's even more wildlife killed because of human stupidity.
