Joy, not to mention the number of bobtail lizards that we have found in the hutch over the years. Apart from a liking for snails, the lizards love the fruit and vegies that we feed the GPs with :-D

The cats in my street have a pet fox.

Some of the cats belonged to an elderly man that died. They had got used to being fed outside by others when he was in hospital, and now the new tenant feeds them in her garden.

Each evening, the cats, including other cats in the neighbourhood who have owners, come and eat what's put out. The fox used to wait his turn for the leftovers, but now they all eat together side by side :-D :-D :-D

There are other foxes that join in occasionally too!

My dog's got fleas. Does that count?

Would that be to keep the flies out of the kitchen?

I think you will have to be really careful with the hutch because mice don't have sphincters and what comes out of mice comes out anywhere they go whereas rats certainly have latrine areas. Do guinea pigs as well? I can't remember because I last had a guinea pig in the early sixties but I don't think she will want poop in her dining room any more than you would!

Sharron, yes the GP can get away from the mice and she doesn't seem stressed by them. She is used to sharing her hutch, as, until a month or so ago, we did have a companion GP who unfortunately developed a tumour and had to be put to sleep :-(

Maggie, I do hope that we don't have an infestation as that attracts snakes :-0

Once upon a time I had a rabbit. One day I had an unexpected visit from the little girl I babysat, she asked "Please can I see your rabbit" so we went to the hutch.

"Rabbit eat mouse" she said looking into the hutch. "No, rabbits don't eat mice, they eat carrots and grass and rabbit food " says I. But, on second glance, rabbit WAS indeed eating a mouse, I fear the little girl may have been traumatised for life . :-0

Can the guinea pig get away from the mice? It may well be suffering because of their visits.

I think, rather than the mice being pets, you've got an infestation :-S

And why not Allan, my cats are rather fond of mice and often bring them to visit ;-) :-D :-D :-D

We have a guinea pig which occupies a hutch in the back garden.

Recently, when OH has gone out to clean up and feed GP she has noticed a hole under one side of the hutch, and a few mouse droppings around the area.

Also, on a few occasions, she has seen mice scurrying out of the hutch when she has cleaned it.

Today she noticed both guinea pig and mouse droppings on the same blanket as though GP and mice have been sharing it.
