The imam of the mosque in the town where the Catholic priest was murdered in France has refused to carry out the funeral of the murderer or to take any part in the preparation of the body as he does not wish Islam to be tainted by him.

I hope this small gesture is the acorn from which stronger Islamic resistance will grow.

good for that Imam - would that others followed his lead and condemned these atrocities

Excellent gesture.

I always thought IRA terrorists should have been denied catholic funerals but that never happened.

not sure if it's true, but my father told me that in the last war the Pope blessed German guns

'What makes the gruesome killing of Father Jacques Hamel all the more frightening is the impossibility of preventing such crimes.

An elderly priest saying morning Mass for a small weekday congregation could hardly be more vulnerable. His quiet Normandy town of Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray would never stand out as high risk'.

Good for him, a brave decision. More of them should band together and announce that anyone involved in similar atrocities will not be afforded the usual Islam sendoff and not given the status of martyr.
