It was my birthday last week. Nothing to get excited about at my age, but nice to know that people remember and cards had been arriving for a couple of days.
On the day itself, nothing was said, so I asked OH if he didn't say Happy Birthday to people. Who, he asked. Me, I said. When is your birthday,asks he. Today, I said.
I'd better go and buy you something he said.
Don't bother, said I.

My OH came in beaming on one of our wedding anniversaries.

"I've got it right this time, it was easy as I knew our anniversary was jewellery"

This was after many disastrous presents in previous years. I opened the present with our children looking on. It was a small box bearing a jeweler's name. On opening the box I said to the children that I'd got a pair of crystal earrings.

Daughter started laughing and son turned to his father and pointed out it was our pearl wedding anniversary.

Daughter bought me pearl earrings for my birthday a few months later. :-D

He gave up buying presents so I just got what I wanted, except this year. I have never had an engagement ring and on our sapphire wedding anniversary he had bought me a beautiful sapphire and diamond engagement ring. He did however ask the jeweler if I didn't like it could I change it for something I liked. All I had to do was have it made smaller. :-)

Perhaps there's hope for your husband. :-) ;-)

I think I have mentioned on here before that mine gave me a hob scraper one Christmas.

One year mine gave me a fancy telescopic fishing rod
and got himself the twin to match that was about 10 years ago
Where are they now
Yep still in the back of the car unused

I asked him why did he get me a stupid fishing rod
and he said It was the only thing I could think of you didn't have :-( :-(
