WINDOWS 10 serious bug

They can't fix the SSD problem it is not their bug.
The problem lies with the SATA BIOS code on the MOB and (rarely) the SSD.

If they have a "fix" it can only be by detecting the BIOS code not being fully compliant and then making allowances which will be certain to hit performance. Result virtually dead gamer.

Best bet for anybody with this problem is (a) try a BIOS UG and (b) if the SSD is an early model/small replace it with a new one. If Windows is to boot from the SSD it needs to be at least 256 GB and pref bigger. Ou$h. If using SSD to boot then the documents will need to be shifted from c:\ and doing that can be a can of worms.

Another fix of course is to use Linux.
Real time transaction trading is Linux only 'cos Windows cannot do pedal to the metal and those micro seconds lost in latency can be v expensive.

Just been reading that MS claim to have fixed the SSD issue with Windows 10 cumulative update KB3176938.

most hiccups fixed and forgotten?
no way there are thousands of issues some minor some more serious

sure the GUI is better than Win7 and baked in security better. It is a much better way to access the world of Microsoft (Skype, Store, mobile phone synch Office 365 etc etc )
the downside is all manner of issues with hardware and drivers and version fights relating to issues as diverse as hard drives and MS Office.
even as a clean install on a new macine nothing is assured.

The SSD drive issue IGP mentions is due to poor code in SATA built in code in the BIOS of some motherboards notably those supporting AMD CPUs. The fix is (a) update the BIOS (b) revert to IDE from AHCI but this is a non solution if you have a solid disk drive of course. (c) revert to Windows 7 (d) get a more recent MOB./ SSD

At a guess the level of testing my MS on rigs > 3 years old was pretty well zero.

Another common major issue is that installation / upgrades take a long time (hours). Many users report this is machine frozen / won't boot ... Win10 just takes its time, a lot of it sometimes.

I would not say that this is an OS really ready for prime time and expect that many who took the free UG are saving on hairdresser bills having torn out all their hair.

Larger scale BIZ users have no case to ug unless they are heavily into Microsoft back office apps such as SQL Server, Sharepoint.

enjoy

Windows 10 as released last year is working fine for millions of users with most hiccups now largely fixed and forgotten.

The current issue is with the 'Anniversary Update' which started rolling out at the beginning of August

I am so glad I resisted their attempts to put me on W10. My IT experts say they have had nothing but trouble with it.

The other issue that I read about is a problem if your OS is on an SSD but your programs and data is on an old fashioned spinning HD the entire shebang will freeze up.

Apparently their solution is to move all your data on to the SSD. Given that many people with this dual SSD/HD disk set up only have a relatively small SSD, big enough to hold the OS and its future expansion, perhaps, this is not a practical option.

Nice.....!

FIX

How to resolve the freezing issue on webcams on the Windows 10 Anniversary Update

Important: Before you make any changes to the registry, make sure to understand that these changes may cause irreversible damage to your current installation if they're not done properly. It's recommended that you do a full backup of your computer before proceeding. You've been warned!

Use the Windows key + R keyboard shortcut to open the Run command.
Type regedit, and click OK to open the Windows registry.
Browse the following path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows Media Foundation\Platform

Right-click on the right side, select New, and click DWORD (32-bit) Value.

Name the new key EnableFrameServerMode.
Click OK.

Double-click the newly created key and make sure it set to 0.

Click OK.
Restart your computer to complete the task.

If you have Windows 10 then try and roll back to previous update..
Microsoft have released an update which is crashing video streaming both offline and online eg Skype. They are hoping to release a fix by the end of September.
