I hope she gets back to her normal self soon. It's awful when they're so young, can't tell you where it hurts, and don't understand why they're not at home.

Sorry to hear this Sue. It's so sad when a little one is ill. You feel so helpless.

I hope she will continue to improve and be back to normal very soon. <3

Poor thing - little ones may go down hill quickly, but with the right treatment they soon bounce back!

I hope your granddaughter is soon back to her old self very soon.

You have reminded me of when my eldest son had gastroenteritis over 40 years ago when he was about 2 to 3 years old. Like your granddaughter he wasn't well and then deteriorated over the weekend. Because it was a weekend we only saw different locum doctors each day for 3 days and they didn't seem to realize he was getting worse because each one only saw him once.

He ended up in hospital and in those days he was put in an isolation hospital in a room by himself and we were not allowed to stay. It wasn't even in a town I was familiar with and I felt so lost leaving him there by himself. He was in for about 10 days and it was the worst time of my life up to that point. Luckily he was o.k. in the end but I'll never forget the feeling I had of abandoning him.

Good luck to all of you.

i looked after my 12 month old granddaughter on Tuesday her mum was a bit concerned as she had been sick after her breakfast, she seemed ok but got a little clingy as the day went on.all seemed ok and off they went home, then she started to go down hill rapidly,by Wednesday she was in hospital with gastroenteritis, she has been so poorly, but today is the first day she has been able to sit up,she ate a rich tea biscuit,we had to go out and buy some lactose free milk for her as she cannot keep her milk down, also dairy free food.
apparently in babies this illness destroys the enzyme that allows them to digest milk, she will be on lactose free for 2-3 weeks then things should go back to normal.

here is hoping my little ziva rosa soon springs back to the happy contented little girl she was.
