I am new to this and have recently viewed newspaper articles of interest to me. I used credits to view the articles which a couple downloaded but the document is not readable. Am I doing something wrong. I have the standard package. Feel annoyed if I have used credits and they are no good.

Thanks in anticipation for any help.

Welcome to the boards Elaine

This does seem to happen - you end up with a web link rather than the article.
Items purchased by credits are only available for 30 or 90 days, depending on how many you purchased. If you are still within the time limit, you might be able to view them again for free. You could try printing then scanning back to your computer.

If there was any specific article you can't access without paying again, members with total access to GR or it's sister site Findmypast could probably do so & send by Personal Message (PM)

any images you obtain with GR (or Ancestrry, FMP) will vanish when the supporting sub. is no longer valid. With FMP and Ancestry people often don't suss this for a long time. With the GR credit system it is as you have discovered painfully obvious.

The fix is to save the image locally to the hard drive if possible and when not do a screen grab. Screen grabs are easy with Windows7 and even easier with Windows 10.

given the fate of other GCThomson sites such as Friends KeepSafe may be something of a misnomer.

good luck

Newspaper articles don't always download very well if you use "copy and paste". I think it's because they are photos.

They work much better if you use the snipping tool and you can enlarge them if required, which makes them easier to read.

Good luck!
