The public library is an excellent idea. Many of them also have access to FMP.

Although it works out more expensive, if it's easier to budget then consider a monthly sub to Ancestry.

No idea where my ancestors handbags have ended up. Probably a land fill site, but who knows? It's only when us ordinary folk see a similar object on an antiques programme that we kick ourselves for throwing it out.

NB - budget chains and market stalls sell excellent, practical, handbags that you aren't scared of using ;-)

I just said that a tenner a month is not much if you take yr FH hobby seriously and that if AY is too much then consider GR or the public library.
I also suggested that many people spend more on their handbag or a couple of beers than their FH subs ir if really tight use the freey AY at the public library.

there you go, is your ancerstor's handbag in the V&A or the Portobello Road ?

I don't know if you have a loyalty bonus, even if you have it will probably be worth letting your sub run out, then joining again through Quidco. They have a 25% cash back on subscriptions. That is what I normally do with Ancestry

I just tried to find out what I paid last time round and will have to go into my bank account lol - they really don't want you to know. There are often offers around - check this page. Unless something magic happens when I press submit I have no idea how to link so will probably need a copy and paste job :-)

It has gone up in the last 12 months although, as a current subscriber, its difficult to work out how much new subs would cost.
