I'm very nice to the contractors, making tea etc., but it's very boring just playing games on the computer :-D

Well, I've lived here for a very long time.
The building inspector came around a few months ago, and couldn't believe my kitchen was the one put in nearly 20 years ago!! They were due to be upgraded - I insisted mine stayed. As I've turned 60, I'm also entitled to a few 'bonuses'.
They will provide decorating vouchers, or paint a room for you, etc. Various other things were given 'points', but I could only have up to 8 points worth.
I noticed, the option for an outside tap and side gate. I have both, but the tap froze years ago, and the gate was on it's last legs, so opted for those.
Notification came that both would be done on 14 September.

The Council insisted (ages ago) that my front door needed changing, from a wooden one to a uPVC one. It was measured in May.
Unfortunately, their contractors sent a letter, with a date - telling me they were going to change my windows! :-0
One phone call to the Council to confirm my windows Weren't being changed, and a snotty e-mail to the contractors, pointing out that I'm all for generic letters - as long as the right one is sent, and I'd be home for my DOOR to be changed on 14 September sorted that one. :-D

Then the council wanted to service my boiler. I changed the date to 14 September - and they actually came!!
One year (different contractors) I took 10 days leave in total, as they wanted to renew the boiler - but kept failing to turn up - then turned up when I was at work, leaving slightly threatening notes.
I created a bit of a stink, writing to the Council pointing out that as I work to pay FULL rent, I don't think I'm unreasonable in objecting to wasting my leave hanging around, and, as they chose the contractors, perhaps the contractors should be told to have a little more respect for the Council's tenants.

Very nice side gate, tap and front door :-D

Wow what's your secret ?? Just getting one workman to turn up roughly when they say they will is a miracle....

I managed to arrange for four workmen, doing four different jobs, to all turn up on the same day :-D
The first one turned up at 08:30. The last one has just left.

.....they all commented on what the neighbours would think!! :-S
