If they are not irrelevant or in bad taste then they tell porkies such as claiming you could save silly amounts of money. They get around this by using words such as 'could' or 'up to'.

The funeral ones claiming it will cost over £7,000 are downright lies. The typical cost of a basic cremation is less than half that.

It is impossible to nourish hair - it is dead.

Half price sales are another one, double glazing and oak furniture for example. Even worse the furniture companies so called 'events' where the after event price will supposedly go up to some silly figure. No one in their right mind would even contemplate buying at the 'full price'

The one with the idiots in the advert co sitting round the table trying to come up with an idea says it all. It is probably exactly how it is in real life....!

The advertising authority is a waste of space too. They claim to monitor the media but in practice, only appear to act if someone complains.

The adverts selling funeral costs really are scare mongering

My hubbies funeral was well under the costs they say and he had a very nice send off with a large family gathering to say their farewells

How many of us have seen something advertised on the telly, and thought "Oh, I must have that"? Not many, I'll wager.

Back in 2004 Barclays ran a campaign called 'Fluent in Finance' and produced expensive adverts fronted by Samuel L Jackson. The problem was that no one could understand what it was supposed to be about.

Apparently they got great acclaim within the advertising industry who like many similar organisations were very good at patting themselves on the back with complete disregard of what the outside world thought.

The public and even the bank's own staff thought different and dismissed the campaign as complete dingbat, but the management, having parted with their millions, had to keep a brave face.

Within twelve months the marketing director behind the campaign had left the bank who by then had pulled the campaign, admitting it had generated negligible new business and had been an expensive mistake.

On the other hand, the 1960's Barclaycard advert featured an attractive young woman who does her shopping in the High Street clad only in a bikini. She wanders in and out of various shops with her Barclaycard credit card tucked into her bikini bottoms.

Whilst possibly considered a tad sexist today, the campaign was a huge sucess in generating massive amounts of business.

Clearly, the So Money ad worked LOL It never fails to get people talking.

I think it is funny but even funnier are the heated responses. Methinks some protest too much. But Why?
